Well the New Year has started with a splish splosh, we seem to have had more rain this year than in the last ten years and there has been plenty of flooding. The lack of “proper cold” is something of an issue too as many plants and trees are starting to produce buds which can’t be a good thing. Probably means we will be tortured with midges this summer.

2016 is a big  year for us, launching The Silkie, other brands to follow and we will be submitting planning soon and then looking at a share placement and hopefully building at the end of the year.

We have engaged Gavin Shovelin and Michael Hannigan of Cornerstone Architecture to design the distillery. Local firm, great people, humble, committed, great understanding of what we need. They have brought challenge, supportive and a real can do approach to everything. I know this is what Oliver would call the high water mark of the relationship but it bodes well.

Completed the digital survey on a cold “scamalach” kind of day but it was fun talking to Gavin and Michael on site and getting their intuitive sense of how to best use the land, they have and empathy with the land, the requirements and what is right for this part of Donegal and are refreshingly easy to deal with.

Can’t wait to see the designs.
